Internationally renowned Gospel artist Marvin Sapp has once again found himself among Gospel music’s most celebrated voices, earning a 2025 Dove Award nomination for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year for his 16th solo project, Then & Now. The album, released under his own independent imprint Elev8 Media & Entertainment, marks a significant moment in Sapp’s storied career.
“It is truly an honor to receive this Dove Award nomination,” says Sapp. “Every nomination is a reminder of the incredible journey that I’ve been on as a recording artist for more than 30 years. My journey now is that of not only a recording artist, but an independent label owner – which makes this nomination extra special for me. I am grateful for the support of the Gospel Music Association, the Gospel music community, and everyone who listens to my music.”
The 2025 Dove Awards ceremony will take place October 7th in Nashville, Tennessee, continuing its tradition of recognizing excellence in Christian and Gospel music.
A five-time Dove Award winner, Marvin Sapp was inducted into the GMA Hall of Fame in 2018—a recognition of his lasting impact on the genre. With Then & Now, he continues to honor his roots while boldly stepping into the future. The project, recorded live in Chicago, is both a retrospective and a celebration of his evolving artistry. It features a blend of timeless classics and fresh new tracks like the heartfelt single “He Was There”, which has already begun resonating with listeners and radio alike.
Known for his powerful vocals and deeply moving lyrics, Marvin Sapp has spent more than three decades encouraging believers through song. Then & Now captures that legacy in motion—bridging generations, honoring the past, and embracing what’s to come.
As Sapp continues to chart his own course as an independent label owner and artist, this Dove nomination not only honors a remarkable album—it signals the continued strength of his voice in the Gospel music community.
