Root Magazine Celebrates 16th Anniversary with Rooted in Wellness Event in Nashville

Root Magazine commemorated its 16th anniversary with a dynamic Rooted in Wellness event, held at The Analog at the Hutton Hotel in Nashville during Stellar Awards weekend. The sold-out showcase of 250 tastemakers, artists, executives, and gospel music enthusiasts blended unforgettable performances with an important message of health and wellness for the African American community.

The afternoon featured uplifting performances from: Soul Therapy, Brandon Watts & Selah Sound, SEMAJE, ANTHNY, Chrystal Rucker, Jonathan Nelson, and event host, Tasha Page Lockhart, energized the audience and debuted her upcoming single, sending the crowd into a frenzy! The event also highlighted a “mic toss” moment with the radiant Christina Bell and the legendary Lisa Page Brooks, who elevated Jonathan Nelson’s hit “I Believe” to new heights.

Sponsored by Novo Nordisk, the night underscored the importance of health education. Certified Diabetes Educator Carrie Hohe addressed the audience, delivering a powerful talk on the impact of diabetes and the urgent need for wellness initiatives in African American communities.

Root Magazine CEO Hasan James also took the stage, reflecting on the publication’s 16 years of influence within the gospel music industry. He highlighted Root’s commitment to not only spotlighting gospel music but also creating initiatives that serve the broader community through wellness and awareness.

Guests were treated to Rooted in Wellness tote bags, artist merchandise, and the highly anticipated 40th edition of Root Magazine, featuring four commemorative covers: Brandon Watts, Dr. Antoine Jasmine, Jekalyn Carr, and 17-time Grammy Award winner CeCe Winans—marking a dual milestone alongside the 40th Annual Stellar Awards.

The mid-day event was attended by Grammy® winning artist Mali Music, multi-platinum producer, songwriter and artist Eric Dawkins, actress and singer, Christina Bell, Gospel music legend, Lisa Page Brooks, worship artist extraordinaire Jabari Johnson, top selling singer/songwriter Deon Kipping, Stellar Award winning gospel announcer Cheryl Jackson, music executive Adrian Warren, industry pioneer, Greg “Uncle G” Lyons and many more.
