Tyscot Records, recognized as the oldest operating African American-owned Gospel label in the world, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in a major way. The legendary label’s affiliated artists have collectively earned 19 nominations for the 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards.
Gospel music icon John P. Kee leads the Tyscot-affiliated nominations with seven nods for his current album, Throwback: An Evening with John P. Kee, Vol. 1 via Kee Music Group / Tyscot Records. Coming off the momentum of his acclaimed NPR Tiny Desk performance earlier this year, Kee is nominated in several major categories, including Male Artist of the Year and Special Event Album of the Year.
The recent Grammy® Award-winning collaboration Heart of Mine from Darrel Walls and PJ Morton also received seven Stellar Award nominations. Released through Gumbo Studios / Tyscot, the project is nominated in top categories including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. Their Billboard Top Ten single “Able,” featuring Kim Burrell, earned a nomination for Song of the Year.
PJ Morton also received recognition as Producer of the Year for his work on the project, which has generated more than seven million streams to date. He also earned a nomination for Recorded Music Packaging of the Year for designing the album artwork.
Veteran Gospel artist Deitrick Haddon and his Voices of Unity choir received three nominations for ChainBreaker 2.5, released through ManHaddon Ministries / Tyscot. The album celebrates the 25th anniversary of their groundbreaking Chain Breaker project, originally released in 2000. Among the nominations is Music Video of the Year for the acoustic and uplifting track “Find Jesus.”
Choirmaster and songwriter Jason Clayborn also earned recognition for “Whatever It Is,” his collaboration with Grammy®-nominated vocalist Melvin Crispell III. The song received nominations in both Duo/Chorus Group of the Year and Contemporary Duo/Chorus Group of the Year categories.
Tyscot’s celebration continues with its recent signing of Baltimore, Maryland-based Brandon Camphor’s TOMii Entertainment production company to a recording agreement. Camphor’s group, Brandon Camphor & One Way, who won their first Stellar Award last year, is nominated for Traditional Duo/Chorus Gospel Album of the Year for their soul-stirring track “In Christ Alone.”
The 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards will be taped live from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
